Permanent Licence

  • One can apply for permanent driving licence only after 30days of obtaining Learners licence.....

    Application and Fee:
    1. Application in Form4.
    2. Valid Learners Licence.
    3. Recent passport size photograph.
    4. Fees and User Charges:
    • Rs.390/- for one class of vehicle.
    • Rs.440/- for two class of vehicles.
    In addition to the above, the postal charge of Rs.25/- per each transaction.
    One should appear in person along with respective class of vehicle(s) for undergoing driving test.

    Driving Test: [ Rule 15(3) of CMV Rules ]
    One should show his/her driving skills in negotiating '3' point turn, '5' point turn, '8' turn, 'S' turn, Reversing, Parking etc and theoretical knowledge in traffic signs and rules pertaining to driver in MV Act. Testing authority will also observe the following actions.
    1. Proper use of rear view mirror.
    2. Change of gears from lower to top and vice versa quickly and smoothly.
    3. Showing correct traffic signals, whenever necessary.
    4. Stopping the vehicle in emergency or in normal condition.
    5. Taking correct and prompt action on the signals given by traffic signs and other users.
    6. Show courtesy and consideration for the safety and convenience of other road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and drivers of other vehicles.
    If One could not get through the test:
    A driving licence is issued on passing the test. If one failed in the test, he can appear for retest after a period of seven days on paying a test free of Rs.50/- for each category of vehicle.

    1. Non Transport licence is valid for 20years from the date of issue or till one attains the age of fifty, whichever is earlier.
    2. Transport Licence is valid for a period of 3years only.
    One Person, One Licence [ Sec6 of MV Act ]
    One should not possess more than one driving licence, irrespective of number of categories of vehicles.

    Addition of Another Class of Vehicle:
    If you have a licence to drive motor cycle, you may apply for the addition of Light Motor Vehicles(car) or add another class of vehicles to the licence.
    One has to apply first for learners licence with the following forms:
    • Applications in Form2.
    • Attested copy of Driving Licence.
    Learners licence preliminary test is not required for a LLR to other class of vehicle. Driving Licence can be obtained in the same way as stated earlier but by filling Form8 instead of Form4.
